The Caregiver Program offers a pathway to permanent residency in Canada for temporary residents who hold a Caregiver Work Permit or have been approved for such a permit based on a favorable Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) submitted by their employer prior to November 30, 2014.
The Caregiver Program has the following eligibility criteria:
- Positive Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from a Canadian employer
- A written employment contract specifying job responsibilities, working hours, salary, living arrangements, health insurance coverage from the date of arrival until eligibility for provincial insurance, and terms of termination and resignation.
- Possession of a Canadian diploma or degree or equivalent foreign qualifications
- Minimum of six months of training or one year of full-time work experience as a caregiver
- Proficiency in either English or French, demonstrated through language testing
- Valid work permit prior to entering Canada.
